Gary Neville’s verdict on Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea

Gary Neville assesses Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea Before the return of Their Premier League.

Top-flight action resumes this weekend after the worldwide break and the Sky Sports pro has ever had his say on the sides that finished in the top six last season, checking their begins.
Read on on Liverpool’s title fee, Man City’s possible problem, Arsenal’s promising beginning underneath Unai Emery, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Man United difficult and reconstruct starts for Spurs and Chelsea.
Neville says:”I had been watching Liverpool at Burnley and that I had that feeling.
“I said last year that I believed they had been a championship team. They’re a tournament team. They’re playing at a level that may acquire the title.
“You saw them Burnley, plus they weren’t brilliant at the first 20 minutes, but they move and get a goal and then a second objective.
“You talk about the clinical element of a group. The bit is right, the bit is correct, and the midfield appears seasoned and strong. They’re a title-winning team and they were last year, essentially by exactly that which they did”

Neville says:”In case Aymeric Laporte’s injury is a serious one, it is a significant problem for City. I said I struggled to understand why City did not follow through on Harry Maguire with Vincent Kompany leaving the club.
“I thought Kompany won them the league in the previous 10 games of last season when he played in all those matches. Forget the Leicester moment which was magnificent, I thought his leadership held them at some period when Liverpool were applying pressure as if you wouldn’t believe. Concerning this figure, I believe that has been by Laporte.
“I think this may cost City points. To be honest, there is no one greater than Pep Guardiola at coaching on the planet. And there’s no one better in making what would be make-shift centre-backs play nicely.
“I saw two Champions League finals where Barcelona’d Javier Mascherano and Yaya Toure playing with centre-back against Manchester United. So, I’m not going to sit here and make the mistake of believing Guardiola can not turn into a Fernandinho or a Kyle Walker into a since they have that much of this ball during matches.
“What I would say is that when Laporte is out for a long time, I think that it will cost City points because he’s a dominant centre-back. I saw him in Spain three times and he is a great player. It’s a real worry for City. That is the one downer out of the weekend City and if I was a City fan it would stress me at the short-term along with the medium-term, based on how long he had been out for.”

Neville states:”I thought there was great things from Arsenal in their defeat at Liverpool. I came with a degree of sympathy, thinking there was. I have been like this with Arsenal. Against Spurs you talk about the threat, very superior areas of the match, the seriousness but you must mention that they do look rash and sloppy in the back.
“We talked about the goalkeeper, Bernd Leno’s mistake. I do trust him. I don’t think he’s anywhere near the class of the other top goalkeepers we have at the Premier League. The 2 centre-backs, Sokratis and David Luiz, are rash.
“You can argue that Hector Bellerin has to return in, Rob Holding’s got to return, and Kieran Tierney has got to return to ensure back four could be strengthened. However, you still worry that back four may still not be for at which Arsenal need to be quite fine enough.
“They somehow need to unearth a centre-back from somewhere that is likely to hold that back line together.
“There’s still that fear about Arsenal they seem all around the place at the back when they have great players against them.
“We saw Tottenham make many opportunities on the counter-attack them against whereas the top teams handle the counter-attack. They maintain their attacks and do not let other teams to cancel them quite often, City and Liverpool in particular.
The way to see Arsenal this weekend: Watford vs Arsenal is live on Super Sunday from 4pm; kick-off 4.30pm. Clips can be watched by sky Sports customers in the live game site on program and the Sky Sports site. Highlights will be printed on the Sky Sports platforms and the Sky Sports Football YouTube station after the final whistle.
Neville says:”When you’ve got a young team such as the only Manchester United have – it has got a great deal of players that are developing and attempting to improve themselves I believe they’re likely to have a lot of outcomes like this they really do OK in the sport. I believed they played okay but they just don’t have.
“There is an element of frustration from United fans because of where the club have been. There’s still that history of significant victory under Sir Alex Ferguson but there’s been six or seven decades now since that and there’s a part of frustration creating – real frustration – which they aren’t on the perfect track.
“I believe that they are on the right track in terms of what they are doing because the very first thing United must do, you have to have a set of men and women in that changing area that want to be there.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, at that which he is doing, is trying to play the long game. To play with the game from up above he will require the aid. He’s going to want strong leadership over the next two or three seasons to be able to have those five or four transfer windows he needs, not to get people in the dressing room facing the identical direction, but to get the quality in that is needed. You need the quality to choose the orientation at the dressing room.
“Exactly what Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have done at Man City and Liverpool, it required time to get right. Guardiola 12 weeks because he had a better group in the first location were taken by it. It is taken in what he would say everything he wants to do and is his culture, his personality the culture to affect and find a team.
“It will take time. Solskjaer is currently functioning more with a group like the only Klopp picked up at Liverpool than the one Guardiola inherited in City. From that viewpoint, this is going to be a long game at Old Trafford and it’s likely to be bothersome sometimes. There will be outcomes along the way just like Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace, but if you see the group a great deal of the fundamentals are correct.
“They seem to be playing the proper way. You see that target is scored by Daniel James and the manner in which they are currently trying to play is seen by you . The style of it is correct the bones are still there. But there’s still a lengthy way to go and it is likely to be bumpy on the way”

Neville states:”The attraction at Arsenal was a significant moment for Spurs. In the lead up into the game, there was a component of pressure towards Tottenham in relation to Mauricio Pochettino. There were hints he would be on his way outside. There were hints that that the dressing room wasn’t quite as it must be when you’ve seen over the previous three or four years the most perfect harmony between coach and players.
“I really don’t think that is not there anymore. Finally there’s just been some unsettling elements in terms of players wanting to conduct down their contracts and maybe maybe wanting to leave.
“But to have withstood that pressure from the second-half in the Emirates before the international break and return with a point proved to be a major time for Pochettino. It is a thing as a coach .
“I don’t buy into this Arsenal are going to complete over Tottenham stuff, to be honest. There’s discussion Spurs are on the way down, but I still think they are a superb team.”

Neville says:”Like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, I Believe the same for Frank Lampard in Chelsea. We are currently seeing Lampard try to change what’s been a system for the past 15 years in Chelsea. They have been a machine that has had this experience. Youthought they know their way and looked at Chelsea. They’re wise, they are mature.
“You look at this team today and it’s less experience. It has less understand how and it has immaturity and more youth concerning it. Comes mistakes and a few undesirable outcomes.
“Lampard is a young supervisor, but having made the choice to appoint himit doesn’t seem right that they’re not going to go together and back them with what they are attempting to do – because he is hoping to change the culture at the club.
“If you’re attempting to perform what Lampard’s performing, which will be bringing throughout the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and other academy-type players, you’re going to have to give him time. That’s Manchester United, and the big question for both Chelsea. They are going to need strong leadership, they are going to need to resist some stress, particularly on media, and stand firm. They will have to say:”We all know what’s being assembled, it’s correct and we are likely to go with it.”
