In his latest BBC Sport column, Wales center Hadleigh Parkes reveals happen to be phoning him Robocop after the World Cup discusses exactly what the squad were around at Otsu win over Australia and looks forward of Wednesdays game against Fiji.
You might have noticed Ive been strapped up quite a lot to help with injuries that were unique, so that the boys have been giving me stick, saying I look like Robocop.
I have got my right forearm my right hand, my elbow and my left bicep all strapped up, therefore its absurd how much tape I am using at the moment.
Because Im beginning to seem like half man, half 19, I need to get rid of it.
Nevertheless, the chief thing is that it helped me get through our game against Australia last Sunday, and to receive the win was awesome.
Id broken a bone in my hand in our first match against Georgia and the hand was fairly tender but it did not affect me too much.
Our health care team is just one of the greatest. Im seeing them each day, speaking to them each single day, and theyre looking after me well.
The hand is no worse than it had been and its actually moving quite well.
Its amazing what the body and mind can do when you have got an injury.
Say something breaks and you dont use it for six weeks, youre only waiting in your cast and seeking to leave it alone.
However, you become used to it when it is hurt, when you use your own body along with your headspace gets better and better. I do not feel as much.
Australia was a big game for us and a huge game for the Wallabies .
Weve been on the end of a few narrow defeats against them over time, but the few times weve managed to get the win.
It was pleasant to get a try although the boys have been giving me a bit of stick to.
Additionally although to nothing you have got a shot with a penalty advantage you need to generate a group pay. Luckily I was on the wing and also Biggsy [Dan Biggar] add a kick that is great and I somehow managed to grab hold of it.
Our start was super – Biggsy using all the drop-goal following Ken Owens and Aaron Wainwright did well in the breakdown, and then the attempt.
Everyone set a shift in although the second half got a bit tense and its just great to get two wins.
I assemble their way then dont know if there has been a change of mindset but something is that Wales are beginners in championships.
But you dont want to get stuck chasing the bunch.
Within this tournament, wed Georgia first. We began well and was the bonus point prior to half-time although theyre a tough team.
Which means you have to have that mindset that you are likely to outscore them , not merely defend then in the Australia match, theyd needed a more rapid turnaround than us and they are a team that can score points.
To be just two from two is great – .
Weve put ourselves in a position that is good, so lets make the most of the keep building momentum and to top our pool.
And we are not losing sight of this danger that Fiji will bring when they are faced by us Wednesday.
There is talent across that backline and they are large, physical guys with a skillset.
We saw them beat Georgia and we all are aware that its going to be a struggle, but we are looking forward to it since thats exactly what you want – before what will be tough matches hopefully these hard games later in the championship.
We travelled to Otsu from Tokyo, in which we have been having a little downtime the afternoon after we conquer Australia.
It is totally different to Tokyo. I believe it would have been dangerous if wed had three days away from Tokyo!
Id always heard it was busy and it had been – people everywhere, a quick pace of life, excellent food, everybody friendly, and its relatively easy to go around too.
We found some fine places to eat and also some fantastic coffee stores, which readers of the column will know is quite critical for your boys.
It had been Jonathan Davies taking the lead back again when it came to finding those areas. He also follows a load of accounts Instagram, writes down exactly what he likes and ticks them off when we see them.
I believe thats a way to travel, especially once you visit places you dont know.
Then, at the end of the scale, theres Otsu.
We had a couple of days off when we got here, which was required after a short turnaround between and two tough first games against Australia and Georgia.
Where our hotel looks over the lake, it has been fine here in Otsu as well as the people have been really friendly.
The days off were quite idle. A couple of us went fishing, which was fun. Im more of a sea fisherman but we managed to grab a few little ones.
So that the shirts were away, the sun was out – Im constantly working on that tan!
We went to Kyoto a day too, so it was interesting to have a look at the temples the history and temples and stuff like this.
Its really been quite a nice, chilled couple days and pleasant to escape from the big city – but were here to do a project.
On Friday , we were straight back in training to it, and we were looking the start of a Test week against Fiji, just like a Monday at it.
