How NFL Teams Fare ATS After Double-Digit Wins or Losses in Week 1

Seven teams got beat by double digits at Week 1 of this 2019 NFL season and now we’re seeing overcorrection of chances and inflated spreads because of the instant overreaction for Week 2. But over the past five seasons, the groups that got crushed in their opening match by 10 points or more have covered of the period in Week 2.
There have been 34 cases of teams losing by points in Week 1 and their album is 21-12-1 ATS for Week two. That record seemed so doubtful I needed to double-check the consequence myself from our stats guy (shout-out to Will!) .
See the table under potential angles that you could use for Week 2 and that illustrates this tendency:
As you may see, the ATS percentage does not change much dependent on the sample size of the last three seasons, last year and the previous five seasons. This isn’t me to take out a second mortgage and put it on the Dolphins +19??distribute vs the Patriots however there’s some merit to throwing a bounce-back from teams in Week 2 by them keeping games winning outright (52.9% over five decades ).
The seven teams that dropped in Week 1 by 10 points or more would be Browns, Steelers, the Dolphins, Jaguars, Falcons, Giants and Buccaneers.
We would not be much of an authority chances and trends if we did examine the side and find out the way that teams do after crushing an opponent. According to the previous five seasons, teams that won by 10 points or more in Week 1 have just covered 45.5 percent of the matches in Week 2.
View the table below for past five seasons, the last three seasons and 2018:
There’s a regression from those winners that is probably because defenses have game footage that can pinpoint flaws and they won’t be caught off guard as evidenced in the table above.
It’s also because of inflated spreads that are not an actual representation of how those teams are ATS. For reference, the seven teams which won by 10 points or more in Week 1 would be the Titans, Chiefs, Ravens, Vikings, Cowboys, 49ers and Patriots.
