Gareth Bale: Ryan Giggs says Wales will not be ‘stupid’ over fitness

Wales coach Ryan Giggs will talk to Gareth Bale to determine whether he will play in Monday’s friendly against Belarus, insisting he won’t be”stupid” about the Real Madrid ahead of fitness.
Bale, who scored the winning goal in the 2-1 win over Azerbaijan on Friday, trained with the squad on Sunday morning and Giggs will talk whether his talisman can be involved”either in the beginning or away from the seat” against Belarus.
“He’s got a big game the next Wednesday from Paris Saint-Germain away, I will talk to Gareth afterwards,” Giggs said.
“He has performed three 90 minutes now, or almost 90 minutes in his past Real Madrid match. We are going to look at it.
“He looked fit the other night, he had been everywhere, working hard, sprinting back – it was brilliant. He is the case.
“We will not treat it like a training session but he would not have done anything else and now if he wasn’t likely to participate. We’ll see whether he could play a role in the game.
“We are not being stupid, too. Given that he’s two weeks behind everybody. He has not got six or seven games in him.”
Giggs says he knows the criticism directed at him after his negative made it late to grab a win against Azerbaijan, but told supporters not to expect victories as he gets to grips with his strongest line-up.
“The problem was that it was really good or really bad, we must balance this.”
“You do not often win 4-0 in international football.
“I made a big effort on Friday to perform with players who are fit and you can have an impact sub like Jonny Williams, that will change games.”
Bale himself insisted he was fit and available for selection, along with the 30-year-old is convinced Giggs’ guys can qualify for Euro 2020.
He said:”I wouldn’t be wasting my time when I didn’t think we can (qualify). I think the fans think we could do it and we want them as our 12th man”
Bale believes Wales are progressing under Giggs and included:”We are working hard on improving. We have played better in some games than others”
