Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confident David de Gea will sign new Manchester United contract

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stays confident Manchester United can convince a contract to be signed by David de Gea, despite still and talks no breakthrough.
Reports at the conclusion of last season claimed the Spain goalkeeper was close to signing a six-year bargain that was new but Solskjaer has confessed he is in the dark about talks have grown since then.
De Gea’s present deal expires in the conclusion of the year and Solskjaer considers the 28-year-old, whom he considers”the best’keeper in the world”, needs to stay at Old Trafford – but at just four weeks’ timehe can begin to discuss contracts with foreign clubs.
“I’m quite – well – I’m pretty confident it will get sorted. He has not said anything to me other than that he loves this bar and wishes to stay here, and he has had a fantastic time,” Solskjaer said before the Premier League visit of Leicester on Saturday.
“You want to ask David and the club [how discussions are going]. I’ve not been involved in the talks. Let’s just hope we put it done.
“He could see what we’re doing . We want the very best players and those we need – most of the time – stay. There are not many that we would like to keep that we don’t manage to.
“I am confident we will can convince David here is the potential for him – and a successful future.”
Solskjaer hinted United are currently scouting goalkeepers given the doubt over the near of Dea Gea – but the Norwegian, whose side will be eighth after one win and two draws from four games, insists he is pleased with his goalkeeping section.
“We’re constantly mindful of happening across the world [along together with other goalkeepers] – but my attention and the club’s focus is to convince him (De Gea) to remain,” he said.
“I’ve got two very excellent backup keepers here in Lee (Grant) and Sergio (Romero), and Dean (Henderson) is out on loan [in Sheffield United]. The goalkeeper division is in great health.
“Whenever David declares a target, it is headlines, he must have saved it. Whenever a match is lost by us – and we’ve lost only one because July 1 – it seems like we’re really struggling. That is just the way it is here and you need to handle it. Have confidence and you have to be resilient.
“David’s fine. I do not fret about him whatsoever.”
